We were blessed to have gotten Amy at 10 weeks old she was a loving companion for me and my family, like all Alaskan Malmutes she was inside/outside dog. She was diagnosed with bone cancer in her left front ankle on Feb. 20th 08. We discussed in depth with the oncologist about leg amputation and he suggested no, if Amy could talk she would have said no way Malmutes love to hike, hobbled with three legs would not go with her. We gave her pain med's for one month, she could in too much pain so on March 19th we had Dr. Kathy Freeman, a hospice vet come to our home and put her down on agrassy knoll where she loved to take her naps, she was given a pain med first that took the pain away and put in a deep sleep then Dr. freeman injected the fatal solution. We had her cremated, but I'm not there yet to spred her ashes, they are with us in our bedroom. Someday we will spred them when it is time. She gave us 8 beautiful years.
